Waiting for the Moment

“Waiting for the Moment” is the blues rock song talking about being in the hope to see someone who was in the distance through the time, enduring the loss, patience and staying determined to get the chance of reaching the destination.

The song is starting with the description of the the latest meeting by two, where they are separating from each other before creating many more memories that could have stuck them tighter. “Here is the final sight and the distance will be our boundary”. But the story-teller is not considering that “boundary” so pessimistic, because he is looking forward to dream of her with this music – “dancing in the fantasy” and to receive any news from the far places through the “Dividing Sea”.

Dividing Sea – is standing here as the borderline of separation and deriving from the name and etymology of “Mediterranean Sea” (originating from Latin indicating the meaning of “in the middle of land”). While Mediterranean Sea is separating two territorial plots, “Dividing Sea” divides two persons not being able to see each other in real for some time.

Unlike the topics of Orkhan Efendi’s other works, “Waiting for the Moment” is built upon the optimistic and hopeful senses.  The lover is waiting for the moment to reunite with the sweetheart by counting the days and following the time. He is also insistent, confident.

In the second verse, the lover is describing the favorite characteristics of his beloved and expressing the envy to the people who are standing in the same town with her, as others can see that beautiful smile in real but he can have it only in the mind. However, never mind, just a little leftover time is splitting from the moments bring to the life!

After releasing a messy and volatile music work (“Universe in the Mind”), “Waiting for the Moment” is written on the topic standing on the reality, simplicity, positiveness and main ideology behind the lyrics – hope. The song is aiming at spreading patience and hope in the background of the example that just two lovers who are waiting to see each other after some time.

Recorded in November 2019, however the music video completed itself in March, 2020. The video is constructed in the ambience of “cinema”, where in the beginning there is the description of the main character inside of the car in the middle of the road, for the demonstration that he is frustrated, slept over, ate junk food and is depth in despair as could be seen from the face. Hence, while rampaging the papers in the car he accidentally bumps into the letter from his sweetheart stating that she is waiting from him to come soon. That encourages his feelings that he decides to start off the car, turn on the radio and set off the road.

Despite the loss of his only companion for the time-being (the dog runs away amid driving) and staying overnight on the shoreline with the expectation to find the ship out to cross the sea, he is keeping the aim and carries on the way to the destination (“there is nothing to hinder me”).

As the song is ended with not the complete conclusion but just “waiting for the time to see you”, it is also depicted at the end of the video where the main character goes by the edge of the ship and looks over the “Dividing Sea”.

I can acknowledge this tune as my first music work based on being hopeful to happy ending. Therefore, that is somehow the novelty approach to my career. Blues is mainly about “feeling blue”, staying sad and talking about the heartbreak, telling something on sorrow. In this work I have tried to combine the bluesy mood with the optimistic frame of mind, because it starts with the misery, however that lasts just through the couple of lines and shifts to the brighter way of thinking about the upcoming days.
