“Just A Friend” is a narrator song in the genre of jazz&blues and dedicated to the relationship within the “friendzoned” connections, belated love as well as miserable guys who are unsuccessful to get their girl.

The author plays the story-teller role and recites the typical situation that could happen in every friendzoned love.

One time a guy sees a girl who is extremely beautiful and wishes to be closer to her. However, what demotivates him to make a step towards his love is that complaints of this girl on many guys who are approaching her and pleads for the mutual love. The lover considers that it is completely normal state, while that is almost not possible for the men not to get attracted into that delightful charm.

For the purpose of being beside the girl and inside of her life, he introduces himself not as those hundreds of admirers, but just as a “friend”.  “I’m not special, just one of them, don’t put me aside, for being in your life, lets be just a friend” – but in the reality, he is simply one of those adorer, who is to his mind just acts “smarter” than others.

And here it is! She is now “the friend” of her lover! He can now sleek his hair, look into the depth of her eyes, hold her tight – but just as a friend! She is yours – but as a friend.

The lover has the plan now. To make one step forward in the future and switch this friendship into that wished relation. To transform this friendship into the love story. But there is a hesitation on the fear, that that attempt of this transformation could make the situation worse – to loose the girl completely. Thus, he chooses to wait instead, wait for the right time to go one step forward. “Make a hint and help me to decide”  – what if, after disclosing everything she will move away? Lets keep those boundaries and frames – he is not ready to take a risk and decides to keep silent for continuation of that closeness which means a lot for him.

And finally that expected sad ending of the story has come! While waiting for the perfect time for that switch to love, the beloved suddenly realizes that it is already too late, because there is another hero in the life of the girl. Therefore, it is now meaningless to carry on that friendship forward.

“Just A Friend” can relate to anyone who has experienced that fault in the life and regretted afterwards for not acting in time. It was recorded in June, 2018. The music and lyrics was written by Orkhan Efendi.

By writing this song I wish to convey the idea behind the importance of making a step in the life punctually and in the right time, not only with regards to that story, but also in every sphere. The fear of making everything worse is what impedes us to take risks. Of course that does not mean that we should do everything without thinking of the result and analyzing our hypothesizes, but too much worrying on pushing ourselves ahead will also destroy our future, which could not be fixed afterwards.
